Travelling to San Antonio

and getting around when you're here

San Antonio's International Airport is located about 15 minutes from the downtown area of the city. The airport services about 7 million passengers per year on more than 260 domestic flights per day.

The airport code for San Antonio International is SAT. Airlines servicing the airport include Aerolitoral, America West/USAir, American, Continental, Delta, Frontier, Mexicana, Midwest, Northwest, Southwest, and United.

Rental Car Companies servicing the airport include Advantage, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Thrifty.

The 2006 SCI National Conference is a multi-venue event, and having a car will be a necessity. We tried to keep the accommodations costs down with that in mind. The four venues are: Downtown San Antonio: Travis Park United Methodist Church; Trinity University; University of the Incarnate Word, and the University of Texas at San Antonio. Some of these venues are far-flung, and we tried to keep this in mind in the rare case when event locations change during the day.

We will include ample maps and directions in the conference booklet to help you navigate the conference.

ride sharing

Larry Barnes has graciously offered to act as a human "ride board" for the SCI National Conference. For more information, please contact him directly at lbarnes@transy.edu. He will match riders and drivers until September 1, 2006.

Getting to the UTSA campus

Parking at UTSA requires a free parking permit, which will be provided upon registration at the conference.

To get to the UTSA campus from the hotel:

• Go East on East Houston Street, pass under interstate 37
• Make a left on the access road, and Take I-37 North
• Exit I-37 onto I-10 West
• Exit I-10 west at UTSA Blvd.
• Make a left onto UTSA Blvd.
• Take the first entrance into UTSA. It's the first right AFTER the trafic light at Velero Way at UTSA Blvd.
• Enter the first parking lot (lot 8 on UTSA Map, click here or here).
• Park in Student B spaces with a guest permit
• The music department is in the Arts Building (Building 8), the first building to your right after you walk up the hill.
• If you need to drop off equipment or people, you can drive right up to the back of the music bldg (there is also handicap parking up there). To do this: you enter UTSA off of UTSA Blvd., stay to the right as much as you can. These service roads will take you up the hill to the back of the Arts building.
