2004 SCI National Conference Registration and Hotel Information

Dear SCI Member,

I would like to cordially invite you to attend the SCI 2004 National Conference at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma, a northern suburb of Oklahoma City. The conference will feature the works of about 80 composers in 15 concerts starting Wednesday night, March 3, 2004 at 7:30 and ending Saturday night, March 6, 2004. There will be a large number of ensembles, faculty, students and guest artists performing, including the UCO Symphonic Band, the UCO Trumpet Choir, the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra, the UCO Wind Ensemble, the OU Woodwind Quintet, the OU New Century Ensemble, the UCO Chamber Orchestra, the UCO Symphony Orchestra, the UCO Percussion Ensemble, the OCU Symphony Orchestra, the UCO Choral Ensembles, Tess Remy-Schumacher, cello, Greg Sauer, cello, Chad Burrow, clarinet, Amy Cheng, piano, and the UCO Saxophone Quartet.

There are six hotels in the Edmond area. All of them do have some availability for the dates of this conference; however they are filling up fairly quickly due to other events in the area. Here is a listing of the hotels and their phone numbers and price ranges:

Holiday Inn Express – (405) 844-3700 – $70.00 per night for a group rate.
Best Western – (405) 216-0300 – Ranges from $55.00 – $75.00 per night.
Sleep Inn – (405) 844-3000 – $59.00 per night for a group rate.
Hampton Inn – (800) 297-2576 $75.00 per night for a group rate.
Ramada Inn – (405) 341-3577 – Ranges from $69.00 – $79.00 per night.
Stratford House – (405) 340-5693 – $49.00 per night for a group rate.

If you are interested in sharing a room, please include that in your email back to me and I can try to pair you up appropriately.

You should make your flight arrangements to fly into Will Rogers Airport in Oklahoma City. You can rent a car from the airport from a variety of car rental agencies. The airport also offers some shuttle services. Airport Express is a shuttle service that goes to the Edmond hotels. The shuttle ride takes about 30 – 45 minutes and the cost range is $23.00 – $33.00. Travel

Will Rogers is Oklahoma City’s main airport and almost all major airlines fly there. mapquest.com could be used for specific driving routes to the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, a northern suburb of Oklahoma City.

From Will Rogers Airport: Go north on Meridian, right on Airport Road (east). take I-44 north (Tulsa, Wichita) to I-77 (I-235)(Broadway Extension), turn right on Second Street in Edmond. From the south: Go north I-35, past Moore and Oklahoma City, exit 141 and go left on Second Street. From the east: Go west on I-40, then go north on I-35, exit 141 and go left on Second Street.
