2006 SCI Region II Conference

Hamilton College, Clinton, NY
November 10-11, 2006

The 2006 Society of Composers Region II Conference will be held at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY on Friday and Saturday, November 10 and 11. Scores from all SCI members are welcome, but preference will be given to members of Region II.

Submission Guidelines

Submission Deadline for Music Scores: May 1, 2006 (postmark)
Submission Deadline for Paper Presentations: May 1, 2006 (postmark)
Notification of Accepted Works: June 15, 2006

Judging Process: Programming decisions will be made by the performers, in consultation with the composition faculty. Selected composers must provide all required performance materials; Hamilton College will not pay rental costs. Attendance at the conference is required of all composers whose works are selected.

Available Instrumentation

  • College Chorus (app. 60 voices)
  • Small College Chamber Choir
  • Jazz Combo
  • Javanese gamelan (pelog, no gender)
  • String Quartet (the Clinton String Quartet)
  • The Syracuse Society for New Music (flute, oboe, clarinet, soprano or alto saxophone, piano, percussion, violin, cello) and members of the performance faculty (piano, voice, cello, solo percussion)

Composers who can bring their own performers are strongly encouraged to submit works.

Electroacoustic works are welcome in the following formats: two-channels only with or without video (DVD only) with or without soloist or ensemble

Anonymous Submissions: No
Attendance: Composers whose works are selected are required to attend this conference.
Conference Registration Fees:

Composers may submit up to 2 works for consideration. Due to conference circumstances, we are not able to consider works longer than 20 minutes in length.
