Call for Scores and Papers

SCI Region V Conference, October 1-2, 2010, held at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, hosted by David Davies (daviddavies@augustana.edu).

SCI Composers in good standing may submit up to two works for any combination of the following instruments: Piano, Organ, Solo Voice (S,M,T,B), Oboe/English Horn, Flute, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone, Violin, Viola, Cello, Trumpet, Horn, Percussion*, Guitar

Works may also be submitted for:

• Orchestra*
• Symphonic Band*
• Mixed Choir (SATB and divisi)
• Women’s Choir (SSAA)
• Men’s Choir (TTB or TTBB)
• Clarinet Choir
• Flute Choir
• Viola Choir
• Cello Choir
• Electronic Medium

*all of the standard band and orchestral percussion instruments are available; please inquire about available instrumentation if you have specific needs or concerns.

Preference will be given to scores submitted by members of SCI Region V. Submitted works may be of any duration, but higher preference will be given to works under 12 minutes. Selections will be made in consultation with ensemble directors and performers

Composers are encouraged to provide their own performers. All selected participants are expected to attend the conference. Registration for the conference will be $50.

Proposals for papers, panels, demonstrations, and workshops are welcome. Please submit a 200- to 250-word abstract outlining the presentation, and indicating its nature and time required for presenting.

Please send scores (not larger than 11″x17″), CDs of submitted works (MIDI playback acceptable) with durations clearly indicated (one submission per disc), a cover sheet with contact information, specifics regarding the availability of one’s own performers, program notes, and a brief bio.  Include a SASE for score return as desired.
