Call for Scores
Friends University Music Department in collaboration with Wichita State University is pleased to announce a call for scores for the SCI Region 6 conference held on the Friends University Campus February 11-13th, 2016. Duo Rodinia (clarinet & percussion) will be the guest performing artists.
Selected composers must be current SCI members. Preference will be given to members within Region VI. Student submissions are welcome. Submission of works for which the composer can provide performers is encouraged.
Composers may submit up to 2 works for any of the listed performers (exceptions being works in which performers will be provided by the composer). Works should be less than 20 minutes (movements of longer works acceptable). All scores and recordings (mock ups are acceptable if no live recording is available) should be submitted through the Music Avatar website.
The deadline for submission is September 15th, 2015. Composers whose works will be performed at the conference will be notified by email by October 9th, 2015.
Works for the following instruments may be submitted:
- Voice (2 Tenors, Soprano) Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Electric Guitar, Percussion, Piano, Cello, Double Bass
- Ensembles:
Amaranth Saxophone Quartet, Friends University Jazz Band I, Soulstice (Jazz Quintet – Sax/Tpt or Tbn/Guitar/Bass/Drums), Susan Mayo String Quartet (or combination), Friends U. Concert Choir (SATB variable size), Friends U. Percussion Ensemble, Tower Woodwind Quintet, Friends U. Orchestra, East High String Orchestra, Tornado Alley Flutes (http://tornadoalleyflutes.weebly.com), The Konza Sound (Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone, Violin, Piano, Percussion, all or in combination), Friends Opera Workshop (1 to 5 voices, piano accompaniment), Electronic works (stereo only). - Guest Artist:

Friends University Music Department in collaboration with Wichita State University is pleased to announce a call for papers for the SCI Region 6 conference held on the Friends University Campus February 11-13th, 2016. Duo Rodinia (clarinet & percussion) will be the guest performing artists.
Selected composers must be current SCI members. Preference will be given to members within Region VI.
Lecture demonstrations on topics of current composers or compositional practice are encouraged. Presenters should limit their planned presentation to 30 minutes. Please list any technology needed for your presentation along with estimated time. Deadline for submission of papers is September 15th, 2015. All proposals should be submitted through the Music Avatar website. Notification of acceptance will be given by October 9th, 2015.
Conference information
Composers and presenters who are selected for this conference are required to remit registration fee and must agree to attend the festival. Regrettably, SCI is not able to offer travel stipends or honorariums to conference participants.
