The Society of Composers Inc. is pleased to announce a call for submissions for the 2022 Online National Conference! We recognize the need for a national, peer-reviewed conference for our members, and despite the challenges that COVID-19 presented, we were thrilled with the feedback gleaned from last year’s Virtual Conference. SCI is excited to continue our exploration of this virtual format, sharing music, knowledge, and ideas to create a meaningful experience together!

The conference will take place May 20-21 and May 27-28, 2022.
Deadline for submissions: April 20, 2022
Notification of accepted submissions: May 9, 2022

All concerts will be streamed live via the SCI YouTube channel; SCI will combine recordings into a single cohesive stream for each concert. All current SCI members will be eligible to attend the Workshops and/or Paper Presentations, but priority will be given to those who have submissions accepted for the conference. Attendance will be limited due to hosting capacity.

There are two categories of calls for this year’s conference. Further details and applications for both categories can be found at New Music Engine by following the links below:

In the fall of 2022, Syracuse University’s Setnor School of Music will host the Society of Composers, Incorporated Region II Conference. This conference is the first SCI Region II conference to be held since 2006. All submissions are due February 15, 2022. Selected pieces will be announced no later than May 15, 2022. Submission instructions are below. The conference will be hosted by SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY’S SETNOR SCHOOL OF MUSIC November 4–6, 2022 in Syracuse, NY.

Artists working in all styles and genres are encouraged to apply.

Submitting parties must be members of SCI. To join SCI, visit: https://wp.societyofcomposers.org/

Composers can make up to two submissions, either both for the same call category or one each for two different call categories.

In the selection process, preference will be given to composers within Region II (New York, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico); however, all composers within the United States are encouraged to apply.

There is no application fee associated with this call. Syracuse University anticipates hosting this conference in person, barring any extenuating circumstances. If held in person, selected composers/presenters are expected to register and attend. We will update the status of the conference as needed. Travel expenses to and from the conference in Syracuse, NY are the composer’s responsibility.

We are pleased to announce a call for submission for the 2021 Online National Conference. The conference will take place from May 6-9th, 2021. We recognize the need for a national, peer-reviewed conference for our members and, despite the challenges that COVID-19 presents, we are excited to come together virtually to share music, knowledge, and ideas. Works may be submitted for any instrumentation, with or without electronics, or for featured ensemble Transient Canvas. Composers whose works will be performed at the online conference will be notified via email no later than March 15th.

For full details and to apply, please visit our Call for Submissions on New Music Engine:
